We have become frantically busy in our 21st century electronically connected lives, never seeing the beauty right in front of us. Through my art, I want to bring people out of their preoccupation and busy-ness, and have them reconnect to the wonders of our surroundings, especially in nature. I want them to awaken to the present, even if only momentarily, to pay attention to the beauty around us.
The natural world has always been a place of wonder and delight for me. My art is my effort to capture those moments of intense spiritual connection. Color has always played a part in that, at first in gardening and design, and now in painting. Color is so exciting! In meditation I have become connected to what my body is feeling, and I literally feel color as a vibration in my body. I work off that feeling while painting, especially in the abstracts I am now creating, adding the colors that make my body “vibrate” to a higher frequency.
